Requirements
All of SELF's programs serve Butler County residents who fall at or below the 200% of the federal poverty level.

HEAP is designed to help eligible low-income families meet the high costs of home heating and cooling, with priority given to senior citizens and home-bound disabled persons.


 Build-Up Academy
The Build-Up Academy is a pre-apprenticeship construction training program. Clients receive 10 weeks of classroom and hands-on instruction for introductory craft skills, earn an NCCER accreditation, OSHA-10 card, and tools.


 Getting Ahead
"Getting Ahead in a Just Gettin' By World" is a workshop series that assists individuals living in poverty to evaluate their lives and to develop the life skills necessary to survive and flourish. GA participants develop a series of mental models to examine their own pasts and create a "Plan for Prosperity" for their futures.

Restrictions
Butler County residents, 18 and older, with household income at or below 125% of the poverty level.

 Home Energy Assistance Program
HEAP is designed to help eligible low-income families meet the high costs of home heating and cooling, with priority given to senior citizens, home-bound disabled persons, people with illnesses and homes with small children.

Restrictions
HEAP eligibility is determine by the state. As of 2014, people falling at or below 175% of the federal poverty level are eligible.

For SUMMER assistance, a household member must be 60 years of age or older OR a doctor's note must state the health benefit for a member of the household

For WINTER assistance: a disconnect notice is needed.

 Home Weatherization
SELF takes applications for home weatherization services in Butler County.


 Individual Development Accounts
The IDA program helps low-income individuals with earned income save and obtain a major asset, including post-secondary education costs, home ownership, capitalizing a small business or (in 2014) purchasing a car.

Restrictions
Butler County residents, must have earned income, at or below 200% of the poverty level.

 JOBS NOW!
JOBS NOW! is an employment readiness and job search assistance program.

Restrictions
Open to all Butler County residents who fall at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines.

 MicroEnterprise Business Development
The Butler County Microenterprise and Microloan Program assists low-income persons who want to establish or grow their small businesses. Participants take a 10-week business start-up course and develop a business plan. Successful participants may be eligible for a microloan of $500 to $3,500 to capitalize their business.

Restrictions
Butler County residents; at or below 80% area median income.

 Money Management
SELF offers financial education designed to meet the needs of to low-income residents of Butler County.
The program is offered both on an individual and group basis.

Participants must be residents of Butler County at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.

 Percentage of Income Payment Plan
PIPP (Percentage of Income Payment Plan) operates out of the SELF office. This is a Duke Energy Program that bases client's utility bill payment on a percentage of their income. Clients need to recertify annually.
