MDA offers a one-week camping session to children and young adults ages 6-17 who have muscular dystrophy or a related neuromuscular disorder. All of the participants have some degree of muscle weakness and need varying amounts of assistance depending on their condition...some just need a little help getting around, while others need almost total care.

We recruit volunteers to help the campers get around the facility so that they may participate in activities such as swimming, sports, arts & crafts, etc. Volunteers may be called upon to push wheelchairs and assist with bathroom duties, dressing and feeding and will be paired one-on-one with a camper. Volunteers will be paired with a camper that they feel comfortable caring for.
Counselors will receive 160 hours of community service for this week-long volunteer opportunity.
